What you see on the 4 Islands trip
The four stops lie a short way off the coast of Ao Nang and Railay, among the limestone islands of the Andaman Sea. They belong to the Hat Noppharat Thara - Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park.
Koh Poda. A long white sand beach with clear, shallow water and a tall limestone rock standing in the sea just off the shore. It is the usual stop for swimming and lunch on the beach.
Chicken Island (Koh Kai). The island is named after its rock tip, which looks like the head of a chicken. The reef around it is a good place to snorkel.
Talay Waek. The name means "separated sea". At low tide a sandbar rises between Koh Tup, Koh Kai and Koh Mor, and you can walk across the sea from one island to the other.
Railay. A peninsula cut off from the mainland by limestone cliffs, so it is reached only by boat. Its beaches, including Phra Nang, sit under the cliffs that made Railay known for rock climbing.
Trips and prices
The Lavezzi 40 sailing catamaran does Railay and Poda in 6-8 hours for THB 20,000 (2 guests, up to 12). The Power Catamaran 40ft goes to the 4 Islands on a half day for THB 22,000 or a full day for THB 29,000 (1-10 guests, up to 25). The Power Catamaran 72ft runs a 4-hour 4 Islands cruise for THB 55,000 (1-10 guests, up to 70).
National park fees, if any, are not included in the boat price.
